Game Review: PokerDrop for iPad and iPhone

Cards don’t have to be arranged in sequence in order to count as hands. For example, the cards 2-3-4-5-6 will count as a straight regardless of their position to one another, as long as they’re in the same row or column.

Hands are scored on difficulty and you can super-charge your score using multipliers for speed and cascading hand combos.

While it does take a few minutes to wrap your head around the game-play it’s easy to pick up. And after playing for a few days we’ve yet to pass all ten levels.

This is a game you’ll pick up and play when you have a few minutes to burn, and it’s entertaining enough that you’ll continue to do so for more than a few days.

One thing you’ll notice is that it’s very easy to make flushes and two-pair hands, and that they’re scored accordingly. To play this game well you must go after high-value hands, and that’s when things get complicated.

You must manage the board well to deal with the randomness factor of cards coming off the deck, setting yourself up to score big when the cards do come. Just like real poker!

PokerDrop is available for $1.99 in the iTunes App Store
