Poker Video of the Week: When King and Jack are Both Wrong Answers

As we all know, everything (and anything) is possible in poker.

Here’s an example taken from the rather pricy Super High Roller Bowl last year at the Aria in Las Vegas where high-stakes icon Andrew Robl clashed with Dong Kim.

Kim keeps it cool when he falls behind on the flop but then a miracle card on the turn gives him new hope.

Who, When, Where

The Super High Roller Bowl had a buy-in of $500,000, which made it the most expensive poker tournament of 2015.

Amazingly, there were 43 people on the planet willing to pay and play.

Eventual winner Brian Rast cashed for $7.5 million but this clip came much earlier -- way before they reached the money.

It’s folded around to Andrew Robl in the small blind, who doesn’t need long to decide to put his short-stacked opponent in the big all-in.

Turn Counterfeits the Flop

Kim holds K-Jo, a monster in a blind v. blind battle, so he has no issue with quickly calling. Robl shows A-T, which is ahead, but then we all know what the board can do to your hand.

The flop looks rather sobering for Kim as Robl hits top pair and Kim finds nothing. That’s the moment where you should pause the video and ask yourself, which card would you like to see on the turn?

A little tip: “King” and “Jack” are both wrong answers

Suddenly Kim has so many outs you don’t even know what you want to ask for on the river. To find out which card gave Kim so many outs, just press play.
