Poker Video of the Week: Double Trouble with Pocket Aces

Every poker player knows they have to deal with bad beats occasionally. But sometimes, things go so bad that even the toughest players can’t take it anymore.

Our hero, however, tries. He tries really hard.

This happened only last week at the EPT Main Event in Barcelona. It was €5,300 to buy-in and the winner, Sebastian Malec, cashed for €1.1 million.

But we are far still far away from the final table, in the early stages of the tournament. Belgian player Inditha Rajapakse is looking to put himself in a good position for the coming days.

It looks like he has a very good chance to do so because he’s dealt the two cards that officially make the best starting hand in Texas Hold’em. Unfortunately, the hand doesn’t play out the way he wished.

81%, Not Good Enough

Poker is a skill game, they say, but it’s not always skill that determines the winner. It’s not even luck. It’s bad luck.

First, Rajapakse gets his chips in good against French player Romain Morin with pocket jacks. All he needs to avoid is Morin hitting a jack.

Of course Morin hits a jack and costs Rajapakse half his stack.

92%, Still Not Good Enough

After an experience like this, it’s nice when you get pocket aces again so you can make up for your losses, right?

It’s particularly nice when your opponent only has one live card, so you’re way ahead. Right? But you’re never 100%, so please click on the video below to find out how our friend fared.
