Video of the Week: A Christmas Miracle on Broadway Street

December's EPT Prague festival wasn’t just the last big tournament of 2016; it was also a worthy end to 13 seasons of the European Poker Tour.

In what was the craziest hand of the tournament, a player seemingly beaten was already on his way out the door.

Then he received two late Christmas presents.

It’s Day 2 of the EPT main event in Prague and 383 players are left from an original 1,192. There are 152 players to go until the money.

That’s still a long way to go, of course, but a double up in this phase can be an entry ticket into the money spots.

German amateur Mike Brandau goes all-in and gets called by American David Robinson.

But Wait ... What's That?

Brandau shows the humble K-Qs while Robinson has a pretty pair of aces. That prompts Brandau to pack up his stuff and put on his jacket.

He puts his mobile into his right pocket, takes a last swig from his water bottle and then puts that in his pocket, too.

He then takes a quick, shy look at the flop and that, he thinks, finishes his day. The door card is an ace. Brandau taps the table, gives a nod to everyone and gets ready to leave.

But wait, what’s that on the turn? Brandau feels like he might need a little more water and gets his bottle back out. And then? A miracle on Broadway.

Ed. note: Brandau finished in the money. He came in 131st and cashed for €11,220. Robinson left empty-handed.
