He used to be a superstar of poker. Now there are mostly just stories about financial issues, his alleged debts to several high rollers and the never-ending durrrr Challenge against Dan Cates.

Rumor has it that he’s travelling in East Asia a lot to play in high-stakes cash games but the former Full Tilt pro hadn't been seen much.

But then ka-pow! Thank you Doupai.tv!

The Billionaire Poker Spring Challenge recently took place in Macau and its highlight was a high roller event with an HK$500,000 (€60,000) buy-in.

The players were mostly Asian businessmen but there were also a couple of poker pros like Phil Gruissem and Belorussian player Mikita 'fish2013' Badziakouski, a huge winner online.

And then there was Tom Dwan. The online phenomenon known as durrrr once crushed the high stakes on Full Tilt but hasn’t been seen much at the tables since. His last tourney cash was four years prior to this event.

Doupai is Chinese for “Twitch”

Letzte Hand

The tournament ended with Badziakouski winning it heads-up versus Dwan and the result went viral quickly. There was even video material as Doupai.tv, which is pretty much the Chinese version of Twitch, broadcast the tournament live.

Dwan finished second for $275,000 but that’s not the real story. There are some episodes that bring back memories of Dwan’s golden age of online poker.

But in the last hand of the tournament Dwan walked right into a trap Badziakouski had set. The Belorussian player had only limped from the small blind and then snap-called Dwan’s shove. Watch the heads-up action here in the video:
