High Stakes Poker Snapshot: Ivey Goes Vegetarian

Though there were basically no big hands of note on Episode 4 of GSN's High Stakes Poker last night, there was at least one interesting twist.

After some haggling, Tom Dwan bet Phil Ivey $1 million that he couldn't go vegetarian for an entire year.

Now chances are this bet doesn't go an entire year, either one side or the other will buy out before the year is up. But it got me to thinking what would your price be?

I mean there are a ton of people that choose to be vegetarians on there own accord. Granted, that wouldn't be for me, but it means it can't really be that bad.

I personally love meat, and would have a very hard time giving up a good steak for an entire year. But for the right amount of money there's not a doubt in my mind that I could do it.

For me though, I think I would have to have around 85% of my net worth on the line to go the year, but if I had that much on it I would certainly be able to make it the year.

For Ivey $1 million can't be anywhere near 85% of his net worth. When you gamble as high as he does $1 million swings happen weekly.

Though of course there is no denying that $1 million is a lot of money no matter how much money you have.

Either way, if I could I'd bet on this bet not going the year, either by Ivey buyout relatively early (< 6 months) or durrr buying out > 6 months.

Unfortunately that's the only analysis I can offer from tonight's episode. Not much else happened other than Dario three-betting every second hand and four-betting every 5th hand with amazing success.

The previews for the next episode look pretty promising so until then hit the comments section for how much it'd take for you to give up meat or the celibacy bet proposed to Gus.
