The 2016 WSOP Main Event has begun airing on ESPN and the first episode started off like gangbusters with one of the moments of the year.

With the cameras and lights directly on him young German player Christopher Frank found the second-best starting hand in Texas Hold’em – and folded it pre-flop!

A Wild Phase

It’s Day 4 of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. All remaining players have reached their #1 goal – to make the money.

It’s now a pretty wild phase of the tournament. The big money is way further down the road and to get there you need a lot of chips.

Many players are trying to double up at all costs and take more risks than they usually would. The cameras dropped by a table with three players involved in a hand.

Frank Saves His Skin

Unfortunately we don't see how the action begins. When the camera catches up with the table American Robert Allain is already all-in pre-flop.

There are two big stacks still to act – Frank and Maxim Sorokin, who answers Frank’s 4-bet with a small 5-bet.

As the TV audience, we know that these two players have the two best starting hands in Texas Hold’em. We also know that the German, who has the smaller stack, is going to go home shortly. Probably.

But then the impossible happens. Without too much hesitation Frank takes his two kings and throws them open into the muck, earning himself a lot of respect at the table. Check out the sensational hand in the video below (hand begins at 38:00).
