The last installment in this PokerStars promotion was when they hit 50 billion hands. Almost $1 million was given away to players involved in hands leading up to and including the big 50 BN!
It's obviously a lottery whether you get in on the money but it's worth the time. The guy who won the 50 billionth hand got $56,140 and he was playing $0.02/$0.04!
This time there will be 300 milestone hands before the "Mega Milestone" of 60 billion. The mini-milestones occur every million hands and the payouts depend on the individual players participating in them.
Here's the formula:
The player will receive a base payout of $50, plus an additional $50 for every VPP they've earned in the preceding 50 hands. So, if you're dealt into a milestone hand and you've earned 10 VPPs in the 50 hands before it you'd get $550.
50 + (50 X 10) = 550
For the 60 billionth hand the formula is the same, except multiplied by ten! The winner of the hand will have that prize doubled, plus an additional $60,000 bonus!
So, playing higher stakes and/or action games that promote big pots and therefore more VPPs is the way to maximize your payout should you be lucky enough to hit a milestone.
It's a bit of a catch-22 though, especially for players with limited bankrolls. You could drop stakes and multi-table the hell out of your sessions to give yourselve more shots at the milestones, but you're not going to have as many VPPs for the multiplier if you were to hit.
