Praz Bansi Might Be Good at Poker

Praz Bansi's tournament record goes back to 2005 but the '06 World Series was when he first got our attention. That tends to happen when you win your first WSOP bracelet.

It was a $1,000 No-Limit event and he defeated 1,100 people to take the $230,000 first place prize, by far the biggest score of his career at the time.

A few months later he was back in Vegas playing at the Bellagio Five Diamond series. In the span of 11 days he final-tabled the $1k daily tounament four times, racking up almost $50,000 in profit!

Things only got better for Praz in the first few months of 2007. He won the first event on the GUKPT for $145,000, defeating close friend Karl Mahrenholz heads-up. Less than a month later he won the $1,000 event at the poker festival in Birmingham for $65,000.

In April of 2007 he was back at the Bellagio, cashing in the $25,000 WPT Championship for $60k.

In the following two years Praz ammassed almost $300,000 in winnings, although his next big win wouldn't come until April of 2009 when he took down the $5k event at the Bellagio Five Star series for $130,000.

A few five-figure scores later and Bansi found himself at the final table of the 2009 WSOP Europe main event. A sick hard finale including Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Chris Bjorin, Matt Hawrilenko, Bansi finished third and pocketed just under $600,000!

The next January he went deep in the PCA main event for $87,500 but it was just preparation for another massive summer in Las Vegas.

At the 2010 WSOP Bansi won a $1,500 No-Limit event, beating out 2,092 players to take $515,500 and his second WSOP bracelet. He went on to make a solid cash in the Main Event for $50,000.

Less than two weeks ago Bansi won the $1,500 GUKPT event in London for $163,000, bringing his career total to the staggering $2.6 million at which it currently stands.

Bansi has a detached, calm presence at the table. In fact most of the time it looks like he's asleep. But his style is anything but laid back. Bansi plays full-out and is very dangerous. He's not scared to take risks and he's got a very keen card-sense and feel for opponents.

He's one of the most entertaining players to watch in live tournaments and for that, and his millions of dollars in winnings, we salute him.
